Senior software engineer and architect with more than ten years of project experience building business-critical Java enterprise applications. My industry focus is banks and building societies and public sector bodies — grown system landscapes with many consuming systems, where changes have to remain backward compatible.
The past seven years continuously at a major credit institution: overall technical ownership as application manager for several applications, ongoing development of the sales application, greenfield development of several applications through to production — and recurring migration work of various kinds, from carving an application out of the monolith through platform changes to OpenShift and Azure AKS to rewriting individual integrations. Throughout in a dual role: hands-on development alongside overall technical ownership as lead or application manager.
My particular strength lies in situations with an unclear starting point: taking over error-prone legacy systems, reengineering without available source code, replacing services under strict backward compatibility, and tracing faults across application boundaries. A mathematician by training — analytical mastery of complex domains is the core of how I work. Twelve years of study and research abroad: eight in Helsinki, four in Southampton, where the doctorate was written and defended in English.

Breaking up monoliths, migrating from Java EE to Spring Boot, moving from VMs to OpenShift and Azure AKS, replacing third-party components.
Analysis of historically grown applications, moving error-prone implementations into sound models, structural remediation during live operation.
